A Spacex explosion was reported on Wednesday night during the tests at the company's Starbase facilities in southern Texas. The company described the incident as “an important anomaly.” No injuries have been reported.
In a statement published in X, Spacex said that a security perimeter had been in place during operation.
“A clear security area was maintained around the site throughout the operation and all the staff is safe and counted,” said the company.
The Spacex explosion occurred around 11 PM CT, while the rocket was being prepared for its tenth flight test.

Spacex said there are no dangers for residents in nearby communities. However, the company urged people to stay away from the area while working with local officials to ensure that the site is safe.
The incident adds to a series of recent setbacks that involve the company's Starship rockets.
In January, a rocket separated near the Caribbean, smoke and debris. Another rocket was lost during a test flight in March after breaking over Florida. A third rocket released from Texas then left control and crashed into the Indian Ocean.
The explosion also occurs for a tense period between the CEO of Spacex, Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
Earlier this month, Trump published in Truth Social: “The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars is to rescind Elon's subsidies and government contracts. I was always surprised that Biden did not do it!”
Later that day, Musk responded in X: “In the light of the president's statement about the cancellation of my government contracts, @spacex will begin to dismantle his Dragon spacecraft immediately.”
Musk eliminated the publication hours later. When an X user asked both men to break down, Musk replied: “Good advice. Ok, we don't dismantle Dragon.”
Despite the public dispute, Spacex remains a vital government partner.
At the end of 2024, the company reported that it has $ 22 billion in contracts of the United States government. In April 2025, the US space force granted Spacex a $ 5.9 billion contract, which makes it the best satellite launch supplier in the Pentagon.
