The popular Nigerian actor and academic, Afeez Oytoro, widely known as Saka, has opened the reasons behind his delayed marriage, revealing that he married at the age of 40 due to the lack of confidence and financial stability.

Speaking in a recent interview with the personality of the media Chude Jideonwo, the veteran comics actor and professor of theatrical arts at the University of Education of the State of Lagos reflected on his personal struggles and the challenges of following a career in the theater during his less lucrative years.

“I married late for two things: I and my profession,” Saka said. “At that time, there was no money in theatrical arts and nobody recognized the artists. We were only doing it for passion. And the worst part was that they only taught us how to act, not how to make money with him.”

Saka, known for his reserved nature, also admitted that low self -esteem contributed to his hesitation to establish himself before. “I had no confidence,” he said.

“When you approach a lady and she doesn't see future in what you do, it's difficult. One told me that I was wasting my life and that theater should leave for something more relevant.”

He told a relationship that ended because the woman insisted that she had two cars before she considered the marriage. “So something told me that this is not my wife,” he added.

The actor finally met and married his wife, Olaide Oytoro, in 2003. The couple has three children.

“Now I am paying school rates with gray hair,” he said, laughing, while reflecting on his trip.
