Police in the state of Ogun has rescued seven people from an alleged people traffic ring in the Oja -od area of the local government of the local Yewa North of the State.
The rescued victims are Emmanuel Anyigor, 25; Chidoidake Basil, 20; Osondu Marvelous, 19; John Peter Ogar, 18; Emecheta Chimoodi, 18; IFEANYI UCHECHUKWU, 18; and Anizoba Emmanuel, 18.
Supposedly, the victims were transported to the Republic of Gambia before security agents intervened.
Confirming the incident to Daily Post on Friday, Police spokesman Omolola Odutola said the victims, who were transported on a White Volkswagen bus with the registration number Krd 28 YL, were rescued Monday along the OJA- Dodan/Ohunbe.
According to her, the vehicle, marked as belonging to the government of the state of Anambra, was conducted by an Ezeani John Paul, a resident of Ichida, an area of local government of Anaocha, anambra state.
Odutola said that when asked, the occupants could not provide a satisfactory explanation about their trip to the Republic of Gambia.
After this, the driver and several other passengers in the vehicle were arrested and detained by the command.
Odutola said: “After the discovery, the driver and the passengers were arrested by the security personnel. Investigations on the case are ongoing, and the authorities have declared that all suspects, together with the intercepted vehicle, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department to obtain new consultations. ”
