The Delta State Police command has rescued five faithful kidnapped after a raid on the hiding place of the kidnappers in the Ubuluku forest.
The police also recovered N1.3 million, which is believed to be rescued during the operation.
The church pastor was shot and still receives treatment in the hospital, while the victims, members of the Paradise Elyon Ministry, Ogwashi-Uku, were kidnapped during a night vigil in their church.
Acting quickly, the police commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, displayed tactical equipment, including the special anti-Kidnapping and Cyber ​​Crime team, to guarantee a safe rescue.
The police officers, in collaboration with the guardian of the Ubuluku community and the concerned residents, assaulted the kidnappers camp, where the suspects opened fire against the officers, but fled, leaving the five victims. The hostages were rescued unharmed and gathered with their families.
SP Bright EDAFE, the Public Relations officer of the Delta State Police Command confirmed that security agents recovered 13 cartridges spent along with the money.
He assured that a human hunt for the suspects fleeing is ongoing.
According to him, the Abaniwonda police commissioner praised the courage of police officers and the support of the members of the Ubuluku community, including human rights activists who helped in the operation.
