The Born State Fire Service has revealed that the fire outbreak that led to the explosions in the Arsenal in Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, may have been caused by the extreme heat in the state.
This was revealed in a declaration of the Fire Service Directorate, the Ministry of Information and Internal Security in the State.
The statement, however, added that the fire has been published.
Remember that panic seized the residents of Maiduguri when multiple explosions shook Giwa barracks in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the reports, the incident began at 12.05 am, with residents in the forced area to leave their homes due to strong explosions and also the view of the red flares that illuminate the sky around the barracks.
“This is to inform the public that on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 10.30 pm, there was a report of a fire outbreak in Giwa Barracks Maiduguri.
“The fire incident affected the installation of ammunition inside the barracks, and some ammunition exploded, causing strong blows.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the intense heat in Maiduguri at this time of year may have caused or confolled fire.
“A combined equipment of lifeguards of the Nigerian Army Fire Service, the Federal Firefighters Service and the Fire Service of the State of Born have duly informed the scene and successfully turned off the fire,” reads the statement.
This will arrive a few weeks after an explosion along the Maiduguri-Damboa road killed seven travelers.
