The Niger State Police command has rescued a kidnapped victim, Mubarak Iliya, 23, who was kidnapped from the Gatawa village in the state of Sokoto and was lost in the forest.
According to Police Public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna, on May 22, 2025, at approximately 11:00 am, the 12 PMF police officers parked at the point of defeat Maraman Dan-Daudu found Mubarak Iliya, 23, wandering in the forest.
He said that after interrogating, the victim was taken to the Gwada division, where he revealed that he had been kidnapped with his father, Iliya Daddi, both from the area of ​​the local government of Sabon-Birnin of the state of Sokoto.
The professional said: “The victim said that at some point in April, during the Ramadan period, some unidentified thugs invaded their village, sporadically shooting. For fear of their lives, he and his father ran but unfortunately ended up in the hands of the bandits.”
According to him, Mubarak claimed that both were tied, with their eyes bandaged and transported in motorcycles to an unknown destination, from which he later managed to escape.
Abiodun declared that the victim sailed through the forest for eight days before being rescued by police officers at a control point in the state of Niger.
The PRO also declared that the police arrested Mubarak and gave him medical attention.
The efforts to locate their relatives are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the investigation is in progress.
