Excmo Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent head of the Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state of OSun and former member of the late APC presidential campaign council, has described the ongoing efforts of opposition leaders to form a coalition against the re -election offer of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 as a futile effort.
Speaking in a bear statement, Oyintiloye said that the coalition was “dead upon arrival” and urged the key figures of the opposition, including former vice presidents Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and the former governor of the state of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, to waste resources on what described a failed project. Instead, he encouraged them to support the “renewed hope agenda” of Tinubu for Nigeria.
“In recent seventy years, Nigerian policy has witnessed numerous coalition attempts, driven by the desire to consolidate power and challenge the dominant parties. However, history shows that these coalitions rarely succeed,” said Oyintiloye.
He stressed that forming a successful political alliance requires “unity, strategic commitment and long -term cohesion”, based on altruistic motifs instead of selfish interests. According to him, the current coalition is simply “a meeting of harmed opposition leaders” that seeks to revive the failed political careers, instead of acting in the interest of the Nigerians.

“The questions that the Nigerians should ask these leaders of the coalition are: Why form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu? If they were in power, could they do it better? Your actions come from greed and hate, and a despair for taking advantage of the power of any means,” said Oyintiloye.
He added that if the current administration had offered these politicians significant appointments, “they would be the first to praise it.”
Oyintiloye urged the leaders of the coalition to reflect on the general elections of 2023, remembering that, despite the intense opposition, Tinubu assured the victory without being in power. Now, while the president actively works to revive the economy, he questioned how the opposition could expect to disapprove.
He asked the opposition leaders, especially those in the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP), to redirect their energies to support the renewed agenda of hope of Tinubu, citing the president's achievements in the sectors in his first two years.
The APC chief concluded by encouraging President Tinubu to stay focused on his agenda and continue to improve the economic and infrastructure reforms that have reinforced public confidence in his administration.
