Iran celebrated a state funeral for around 60 people on Saturday, including superior military commanders, killed in his recent war with Israel.
Tensions are still high after the inflammatory comments of former president of the United States, Donald Trump.
The funeral began at 8:00 am local time (0430 GMT) in Tehran.
The government offices and many companies were closed for the occasion.
“The ceremony to honor the martyrs has officially started,” State TV announced.
The images showed the mounts in blacks, stirring Iranian flags and holding portraits of the murdered commanders.
President Masoud fishshkian and other senior officials were present.
The coffins were covered in the Iranian flags and exhibited in the Square Enghelab, each with images of the deceased in uniform.
The 12 -day war, which began on June 13, saw Israel and the United States attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
Iran responded with missile attacks against Israeli cities.
Both countries then claimed the victory after a high fire.
Tehran's Ministry of Health said 627 civilians were killed in Israeli attacks.
Israeli officials reported 28 deaths from Iranian strikes.
The funeral images showed civilians who had portraits of the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and former leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Jomeini.
Among the dead was the biggest general Mohammad Bagheri, second in command of the Armed Forces of Iran.
He died with his wife and daughter, a local journalist, in an Israeli attack.
The commander of the revolutionary guards Hossein Salami, killed on the first day of the war, was also among the dead.
The nuclear scientist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi was also killed, along with his wife.
Four of the 60 people who were at rest were children.
The funeral procession will move from Enghelab to the Azadi square, about 11 kilometers away.
The organizers called him a “historic day for the Islamic Iran and the Revolution.”
Meanwhile, Trump's Friday comments on his Truth Social Platform further increased tensions.
He accused Iran of lying on winning the war.
“I saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death, and he doesn't have to say: 'Thank you, President Trump!'” He said, referring to Khamenei.
“He knew exactly where he (Khamenei) was protected, and would not let Israel, or the United States armed forces … finished his life,” Trump added.
He claimed to have been working to raise Iran.
“But no, on the other hand, they hit me with a declaration of anger, hate and disgust, and immediately left all the work in the relief of the sanction, and more,” Trump said.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, withdrew on Saturday.
“If President Trump is genuine for wanting a deal, he must put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran's supreme leader, the great Ayatolá Khamenei,” he published in X.
He added: “The great and powerful Iranian peoples, who showed the world that the Israeli regime had no choice but to run to 'dad' to avoid being crushed by our missiles, are not friendly with threats and insults.”
Iran insists that its nuclear program is only for civil purposes.
After Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear agreement, Tehran resumed enrichment activities.
Recently, Trump hinted that the new negotiations could begin.
But Tehran denied this, and Khamenei dismissed the impact of US strikes.
He said the strikes had not done “nothing significant” and accused Trump to exaggerate.
Israel said that Iran's nuclear project had been frustrated. “
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar declared: “The international community now has the obligation to prevent, through any effective means, the most extreme regime in the world to obtain the most dangerous weapon.”
Although war is over, its diplomatic and political consequences continue to develop.
