The Management of the State University of Abia, Utenuru, has said that the school is safe, peaceful and conducive to the students of the institution.
The university, which was reacting to the murder of Mr. Osinachi Asonye, ​​a motorcyclist, by armed men on Friday, said that the shooting incident occurred outside the university.
In a statement signed by Mr. Chijioke Nwagu, its Public Relations officer, the ABIA State University said the reports that claim that the murder took place within the university were false and attacked to portray the university as insecure.
The Absu Management, which condemned the murder of the commercial motorcyclist and other related crimes, regretted that the false reports about the safety situation in the school aimed to uncheck the institution.
“The public must take into account that none of these reported incidents occurred within the university, since many false narratives try to portray, but mainly in the border communities, a reflection of the challenges of general insecurity in the country, which is not peculiar of the State or the university.
“Therefore, they are told that students carry out their academic activities without fear, but they should also avoid traveling at night and refrain from activities that can lead to disputes and fights whose consequences no one can predict.”
The State University of ABIA also said that government and security agencies have become action to stop people behind the shooting incident, adding that student safety has continued to be the highest priority of Governor Alex Otti.
