The Federal Government has opened a joint committee to supervise the preparations for the first International Air Show of Nigeria, scheduled for December 2025.
The Committee established by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has the task of finishing the key agreements, including the selection of a place and coordination with the relevant interested parties.
According to a statement from the Ministry on Monday, the initiative aims to deepen national collaboration and strengthen Nigeria's aerospace workforce.
The decision was formalized during a courtesy visit by the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, at the headquarters of the Nigeria Air Force in Abuja.
The head of the press and public affairs of the Ministry, Odutayo Oluseyi, signed the statement confirming the development.
Kana, while heading to the senior NAF officials, expressed her gratitude for the constant professionalism of the Air Force and emphasized the importance of inter -institutional cooperation to guarantee the success of the aerial show.
He pointed out that global aerial shows generally present civil and military components, urging the head of the air staff to take advantage of the technical experience and platforms of the NAF to offer a “spectacular air display to show Nigeria's aerial power.”
Kana also extended an invitation to the head of the air staff for an upcoming diplomatic meeting that involved the ambassadors in Nigeria, facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He added that commitments to foreign airline operators and other international partners were already providing support for the event.
The air show is expected to attract the main aviation and defense companies around the world to exhibit their goods and services.
It is projected to serve as an important platform for business while increasing the economy, cultural influence and tourism sector of the country.
In response, the head of the air staff, the Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, affirmed the preparation of the Air Force to support the event. He averaged the total deployment of resources and experience in NAF to guarantee a successful exit.
“Let the committee continue and decide the place of the event, make other modalities; we have credible hands to associate with the Aviation Ministry. We must do everything possible to guarantee the success of the event,” he said.
