Adelev must start from grassroots, you can't attack APC – Omisore

Senator Iyiola Omisore, former vice governor of the State of Osun, has publicly declared that Governor Adela Adelek cannot attack his way to the Congress of all progressives (APC) through his association with the governor of the state of Ogun, Dapo Abiodun.

Speaking in the Channels Television political program, Omisore, who is a former national secretary of the APC, said that although Governor Adeke has the constitutional right to join anywhere, a possible dropout would need to follow the appropriate channels and start at the base level in the state of Osun.

According to Omisore, Governor Adeke is trying to join the APC because he is afraid to lose the offer of the second term.

He described the idea that Adelev could be “anchored” to the party by a governor of another state. “Politics is very local,” Omisore said. “If you should join us, you have to start from the bases.”

“APC is not divided into the state of Osun. I do not say that Adeleke cannot join the party. He has the constitutional right to partner with any part, but he will not seek friendship in Ogun or abujes to join the Osun Apc. He cannot meet Governor Dapo Abiodun in our party.

“The policy is very local, and must know the principles and local structure of a party to which it joins. If it should join us, it has to start from the bases.”

Omisore's comments occur in the midst of generalized speculation about the political future of Governor Adeke.

The Caucus of the Democratic Party of the Peoples of the State of Osun (PDP) recently declared its “unwavering support” for Governor Adeke and promised to “follow him wherever he goes” while continuing his consultations on a possible dropout.

However, the APC OSun state chapter has denied this dropout, with its spokesman, Kola Olabisi, stating that statements are a “lie of the well of hell” and that there are constitutional obstacles to cross.
