The police command of the Federal Capital, FCT, revealed on Wednesday the arrest of a Saleh de Yahaya for trying to ensure the release of an alleged kidnapper that is under investigation.

A statement from Josephine Adeh, the public relations officer of the Command Police, said that Yahaya tried to bribe police investigators who handled the kidnapping case with the sum of N1.5 million to ensure the liberation of the suspect.

Yahaya, according to the police, approached the investigators and offered the amount as a bribe to compromise the case and illegally release the suspect from custody.

AMH said police officers, however, rejected the offer and quickly initiated the necessary legal procedures, which led to Yahaya's immediate arrest.

He added that an investigation is currently in progress to detain other members of the union.

Daily Post reports that the command agents recently arrested some kidnappers who have been causing problems throughout the country's capital.
