Police inspector, Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his commitment to restore discipline and integrity within the Nigeria police force.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the PGI declared this in Abuja, since 151 superior officers faced the disciplinary committee of the force on several accusations of misconduct and professional infractions.

The disciplinary procedures, which began on Monday, July 14, will be extended until Friday, July 25, 2025, in the IGP Smart Conference Room, the headquarters of the Force, it abuses.

He declared that his administration would not tolerate any form of indiscipline or misconduct, regardless of the rank or the state of the officers involved.

He said: “Nigeria's police force is still resolved in its commitment to promote integrity, professionalism and public trust.”

The declaration said that the disciplinary process reflects the enthusiasm of the strength to maintain a responsible institution and promoted by the service, where the standards are maintained and the rule of law is respected from the inside.

He said that the measure was to enforce internal responsibility and reinforce professional standards, adding that officers, extracted from several commands and formations throughout the country, were being subject to a “process of exhaustive and transparent review” in line with existing police regulations and disciplinary procedures.

He said that the officers under scrutiny are the range of superintendent police and superior assistant.

“The Disciplinary Force Committee is an essential internal structure responsible for reviewing and judging cases of alleged professional behavior violations, misconduct and ethical violations,” reads the statement.

He said that the result of the hearings would be sent to the Police Service Commission for the final decision on appropriate sanctions or exonerations, in accordance with the law.
