The OMI State Police Command has announced that it has broken several criminal hiding places, which leads to the arrest of 2,785 suspects involved in several criminal crimes, ranging from armed robberies and kidnapping to children’s traffic.
The command also declared that he recovered 20 weapons of action of the bomb, 14 AK-47 rifles, two general use machine guns and four rocket launchers manufactured, among other weapons.
A press statement issued by the spokesman for the command, DSP Henry Okoye, revealed that successful operations were the result of more than six months of intensive activities carried out by agents of the Anti-Kidnapping unit, in collaboration with other divisions and formations.
According to the statement, the operations also led to the rescue of 58 kidnapped victims and 42 stolen children, many of whom have met with their families.
The statement also revealed that investigations on the various cases resulted in the recovery of a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives. These included two general use machine guns, 14 AK-47 rifles, 20 bomb action weapons, four rocket launchers manufactured, seven gas cylinder explosives, manual grenades made locally, varied rounds of living ammunition, cartridges and criminal charms, among other elements.
Among the key suspicious arrested were Amechi Onybuchi, 38, Ozioma IHEDORO, 39, Ciprio Ikpegbunam, 50, and Uchenna Oparara, 30. It was said that the suspects were members of a notorious criminal gang responsible for multiple attacks in security and public infrastructure formations in NJABA LGA.
The command spokesman said the arrests were made by agents of the Anti-Kidnapping unit, acting on credible intelligence along with other tactical equipment.
Okoye declared that during the interrogation, the suspicious confessed the kidnapping and murder of an Emmanuel Oguzie, supposedly by the orders of a gang leader known as Asari, who, according to the statement, remains in the list of desires of the command.
In a separate but related case, two alleged kidnappers, Uche Nwachukwu, 24, and Chinanso Ozirim, 32, were arrested for kidnapping a Mr. Anayo Iwuoha of his compound in Akabo, Ikeduru Lga, on June 20, 2025.
According to Okoye, the union kept the victim at the Chinese residence Ozirim and collected a rescue of N2.2 million before a joint operation by the Anti-Kidnapping unit and the local guards led to the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.
He added that a human hunt is ongoing for the arrest of other accomplices fleeing.
