Oborevwori Brazilian agranjeros soches to boost food security

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the State of Delta has reaffirmed the commitment of its administration to improve food security through economic diversification by significantly increasing investment in agriculture throughout the state.

The Nigeria news agency (NAN) informs that Delta, like many regions in Nigeria, has been based largely on an economy led by crude oil, overlooking great opportunities in commercial agriculture and animal breeding.

As part of the efforts to transform the State agricultural sector, Oborevwori has inaugurated a high -level delegation to visit one of the largest ranches in Brazil, aiming at the development and attraction of foreign investment.

A statement issued on Saturday in Asaba said that the Delta delegation began a work tour in Brazil, involving ranch officials, inspecting agricultural facilities and identifying the possible areas of collaboration with the agroexperties of the host country.

The visit is aligned with the widest vision of the governor to diversify the economy, boost food production and generate sustainable employment. Key areas include cattle management, dairy production, pasture development and agropons processing.

Dr. Barry Gbe, Chief Economic Advisor of the Governor and Head of the Delegation, said that the State remained committed to transforming its agriculture through strategic alliances and the adoption of global best practices.

“Brazil is recognized for its advances in livestock and cattle, and we believe that collaboration in this sector will bring immense benefits to our people,” Gbe said in his comments.

He explained that the administration sought to adopt successful Brazilian agricultural models, strengthen local capacities and attract direct investments in the Delta state for long -term agricultural and economic growth.

The Brazilian hosts, led by Mr. Gustavo Monaco, welcomed collaboration, pointing out the vast Nigeria market and the fertile panorama of Delta State as significant advantages for the development of sustainable agos-negocios.

NAN reports that both parties agreed to extend the discussions beyond the visit, exploring practical opportunities for investment, the exchange of agricultural knowledge and the integration of advanced technology in Delta’s agricultural systems.

Oborevwori aims to position Delta as a center of agribusiness in Nigeria and Western Africa by allowing investment, training local farmers and adopting international agricultural experience.

The delegation is expected to present a comprehensive report with strategic recommendations to launch pilot livestock programs and other shocking agricultural projects in all regions of the State of Delta.

Delegates include Mr. Val Arenyaka (Agriculture Commissioner); Mr. Charles Aniagwu (works – rural roads); Mr. Samuel Oligida (trade and investment); Mr. Anthony Elekeokwuri (DG Investment Agency); and Mr. George Orogun (investment advisor).
