According to the reports, one person died and another seven were injured in a collapse of the building in the area of the local Kirikasamma government of the state of Jigawa.
The president of the Council, Muhammad Maji Wakili Marma, confirmed the incident, saying that it happened in the Kanak village after heavy rains.
According to him, “the collapse of the building occurred after two nights of strong downpour in the area.
“Five of the victims are still receiving treatment in the hospital, while two others have been discharged.”
He warned that more houses could collapse if urgent measures are not taken to strengthen vulnerable buildings throughout the area.
The president appealed to government and humanitarian agencies to support victims and increase measures to protect communities from the effects of floods and climate -related disasters.
