The wife of the governor of Anambra, Mrs. Nonyye Soludo, has issued a dramatic challenge to Senator Uche Ekwunife, urging both to lend an oath of fidelity to the Blessed Virgin Mary and submit her children to paternity tests.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Awka, Mrs. Soludo accused the senator of manufacturing accusations and dragging her children into political disputes.
She described Ekwunife’s behavior as “malicious” and warned that legal action would follow unless the legislator retired his claims and apologized in 72 hours.

Mrs. Soludo said that a public oath would help resolve issues of character once and for all.
“Since Uche Ekwunife claims to be a converted Catholic, the challenge to make an oath of fidelity and chastity in any cathedral against the Blessed Sacrament and the Bible.
“I will swear (with my children) that in my 55 years on earth, I only know a man: Chukwuma Soludo. For his part, he must also swear (with his children or his political ambitions) that since she married, she has never cheated on her husband.”
The governor’s wife also invited Senator Ekwunife to scientific verification through DNA tests.
“I challenge you, Uche Ekwunife, so that we submit our children to paternity tests in three accredited hospitals in London. I will pay all the expenses, including trips for you and your family,” he said.
He added that if the results confirmed that Ekwunife’s husband engendered all his children, he would not only congratulate her but also present a cash prize.
When describing herself as a quiet family woman, Mrs. Soludo emphasized her Christian and conservative education.
“I married him as a virgin and my faithfulness with him in 33 years of marriage and, for life, it is Ironclad,” he said.
In addition, he pointed out that he had never worked for the government or depended on public funds, even as the first lady of the state of Anambra.
Promising her defense with dignity, Mrs. Soludo compared the clash with Senator Ekwunife to a long distance race. “My weapons are decency, character and grace. I am a long distance corridor and I welcome you to the marathon,” he said.
In his rapid response, Senator Uche Ekwunife, who is the deputy candidate of the governor of the Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state, advised Mrs. soluding that explanations about the paternity of her children should only address her husband, soluding governor, and not to public or political opponents.
Senator Ekwunife criticized Mrs. Soludo for trying to publicly justify her chastity, fidelity and virginity in the middle of the ongoing controversy.
She emphasized that such deeply personal matters are private and only belong to her husband. “Mrs. Soludo should refrain from dragging my family’s private affairs.
“If the governor has doubts about the paternity of his children, he must look for a DNA test himself. Mrs. Soludo should have the courage to undergo this type of proof to establish the truth,” Ekwunife said.
The senator also argued that Mrs.’s attempts to involve others in what is essentially a private family problem does not advance the conversation and only serve to politicize personal issues unnecessarily.
“To challenge me or others to demonstrate that his chastity or fidelity has no basis. His explanations are owed only to her husband, and any attempt to politicize this is out of place,” Ekwunife replied through the statement.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the confrontation among women dates back to the questions of Governor Chukwuma Soludo about the academic qualifications of Senator Ekwunife.
