The Yobe State Police command said that its agents at the Fika division arrested a 22 -year -old suspect who allegedly violated an 11 -year -old girl.
The command, through its public relations officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, the suspect attracted the survivor to his farm under the pretext of offering assistance with a promise of reward, but instead he took advantage of the situation and violated it.
“On September 13, 2025, at approximately 0700 hours, after a call of anguish of the guardian of an 11 -year survivor of the village of Maiduwa, Fika Lga, agents of the headquarters of the Police of the Fika Division quickly apprehended an Ishiak Bukar, 22 years old, of the same direction,” added the command.
He said that during the interrogation, the suspect confessed the crime.
“The investigation is ongoing, while the medical evaluation and the treatment of the survivor have begun,” the command said.
However, the command expressed concern about the increase in the reported cases of harassment and abuse against women and children committed as agricultural workers, therefore, warned that anyone who has found such atrocious acts will be decisive in accordance with the law.
The State Police Commissioner, Emmanuel Ado, reacting to the incident, urged the members of the public to remain attentive and inform all suspicious people who take advantage of agricultural activities to harass or abuse women and children.
“Say no rape, protect women and children,” he said.
