A combined team of the Customs Service of Nigeria, NCS, officers and soldiers in special service was dominated by a mafia in the state of Agbara, Ogun, during an operation to intercept a suspected vehicle of transmitting cannabis.
The incident was released on Monday in an X post for the expert in counterinsurgency, Zagazola Makama.
Makama revealed that the incident occurred on Sunday when the team, parked at the control point of the church door along the Badagry highway -Lagos, tried to stop a bus suspected of transporting the illegal substance.
According to the reports, the bus driver challenged the stop order and accelerated, which caused the patrol team led by an inspector Ejeh gave a persecution to the suspect, with the military support of the soldiers attached to the Simo command.
“The persecution extended to the community of Agbara, where the officers tried to stop the suspects fleeing. However, a furious mafia resisted the arrest, dominated the patrol team and allowed the suspect to escape.
“While Customs staff managed to retire, Sergeant Mohammed was left behind and surrounded by the mafia before the intervention came,” Makama said.
He added that the reinforcements of the army troops were rapidly deployed on the scene, rescuing the soldier and restoring the order.
It was said that the situation in Agbara was calm while the police and the military patrols continued to monitor the area.
