The Zamfara State Police command has confirmed that the gunmen kidnapped two councilors and a magnet in Gusau on Wednesday night.
Police spokesman Yazid Abubakar revealed on Thursday that the councilors, who represent Gidan Gona and Tsibiri Wards in Maradun’s local government, were taken along with an IMAM in the community of Tsauni shortly after the night sentences.
He said that security agents have been deployed in the area and that the efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims.
Abubakar also called for residents to share any information that could help in the safe rescue of the victims
Meanwhile, the president of the local government of Maradun, Sanusi Gamagiwa, explained that six people were originally kidnapped, but three could escape. “Until now, they have not contacted anyone to declare their demands,” he said.
