The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper who was hiding a manufactured Beretta pistol inside a loaf of bread.
In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the arrest was made by officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) during a routine stop and search at Koka Roundabout, Asaba, on November 6 at around 8:45am.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, was arrested after displaying suspicious behaviour.
A careful search led to the shocking discovery of a locally made Beretta pistol cleverly hidden in a loaf of bread.
Chibuike was immediately arrested and taken into custody, while the gun was recovered and kept as an exhibit.
Police investigations are underway to establish his connection with reported cases of armed robbery and kidnapping in and around Asaba.
