A Kano State High Court sentenced two men to three years in prison, each with the option of paying a fine of N200,000, after they were found guilty of cracking the password of a stolen phone and illegally withdrawing money through the phone’s banking applications.
Judge Faruk Lawan presided over the trial involving five suspects identified as Abdulkadir Aminu, Abdulkadir Abdullahi, Saifullahi Salisu, Jibril Yunusa and Nasir Yunusa, charged with conspiracy, armed robbery and assault on a woman named Ramlat Usman and theft of her phone.
After examining the evidence, the judge found the fourth and fifth defendants guilty of assisting in the robbery. He sentenced each to three years in prison or a fine of N200,000 each.
The court adjourned the trial of the first, second and third defendants to December 16, 2025 for further hearing.
