No less than 37 persons kidnapped by bandits in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State have been released by their kidnappers.
Alhaji Abdulrahman Kandarawa, the lawmaker representing Bakori constituency in the State House of Assembly, revealed this to newsmen in Katsina on Friday.
According to him, the victims, 17 women, two children and 18 men, were released on Friday after a peace agreement with bandits in the area.
He explained that the kidnapped people were released without payment of ransom as part of the agreement reached during the dialogue.
The lawmaker said that with the development, “no Bakori kidnapped victim remains with the kidnappers except if we are not aware of them.
“I want to assure you that at the moment, there are no more victims in the forest in this local government area.
“I therefore call on the people of our communities to maintain the relative peace we currently enjoy,” he said.
