The Nigerian Army said troops from Sector 5, Operation PEACE SHIELD, crushed bandits, recovered cash and rescued 10 kidnapped victims in Kaduna.
Troops also recovered ransom money paid to the kidnappers.
This followed intelligence reporting that women were abducted from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area on November 29, 2025.
In a post on its social media (Facebook, WhatsApp), the Army said: “At approximately 0640 hours on 5 December 2025, troops made decisive contact with the kidnappers while attempting to receive ransom payment from the victims’ relatives. The criminals were met with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and hastily retreat to nearby forests.
Aggressively, he said that the troops claim that the victims were rescued, adding that among those rescued were an adult man, three male children, three elderly women and three girls.
He said the rescued victims had been questioned and reunited with their families.
During the operation, troops recovered a manufactured AK-47 rifle, a 9mm round of ammunition and the sum of £1.6 million, identified as part of the ransom money.
He said the Nigerian Army reiterates its unwavering determination to protect citizens, deny criminals any freedom of action and ensure that communities across the country can live and work in peace.
