A nighttime inferno devastated the Berger Trailer Park, popularly known as Berger Suya, located in the Olodi-Apapa area of Ajegunle, Lagos.
Newslodge noted that Thursday’s inferno destroyed several trailers, container shops and piles of abandoned tires.
According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the agency received the emergency call at 8:15 p.m. and reached the scene within fifteen minutes.
Fire crews from Ajegunle, Sari-Iganmu and Alausa fire stations were immediately mobilized to contain the rapidly spreading flames.
While firefighters battled the blaze, officers from LASTMA, LASEMA and the Nigerian Police provided support by controlling the crowd and maintaining traffic flow around the busy corridor.
Preliminary assessments suggest negligence may have caused the fire, although authorities say a detailed investigation is underway.
Confirming the incident, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said on Thursday night that firefighters were still working to fully extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent structures.
