The Edo State Police Command has arrested Amadin William for allegedly killing his Europe-based childhood friend identified as Eghosa Osarietinomwan.
Newslodge reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this to journalists on Sunday in Benin City.
Ikoedem also confirmed that two other people were arrested following a retaliatory attack by angry youths who hailed the killing.
Angry youths of the community reportedly set fire to the suspect’s house.
The police spokesman said the suspect in the murder has been arrested.
“The deceased suffered deep machete cuts to his neck after going out to relieve himself during the housewarming celebration.

“He was rushed to hospital for treatment, where he was confirmed dead.
‎
“The suspect, after committing the crime, fled and hid, but was tracked down and arrested on December 27.
‎
“Meanwhile, two other people have been arrested in connection with the arson that followed the incident,” he said.

Newslodge learned that the murder of Eghosa Osarietinomwan, a Europe-based man, took place in Oben Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of ​​Edo State.

The suspect was said to be a childhood friend of the deceased.
The suspect is said to have lured the victim into a bush path during his housewarming ceremony on December 22, 2025, where he allegedly attacked him with a machete.

The suspect was said to have fled the community shortly after the incident but was later arrested in Benin City.
‎
‎It was also learned that the deceased had returned from Europe to celebrate Christmas with his family before the tragic incident occurred.
‎
Following the attack, angry youths from the community reportedly set fire to the suspect’s house.
