In another fatal car accident, five people were killed and two others suffered injuries of varying degrees in Jigawa State.
Jigawa State Police Command Spokesperson, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident to Newslodge.
This comes less than two hours after the accident that killed eighteen people, including men, women and children, in Danmasara village in Dutse local government.
According to the statement: “On Tuesday, December 30, at around 1:00 p.m., a single fatal car accident occurred at Bandawa Village, Ringim LGA, involving an ashen Honda Accord with registration number ABJ 730 AX, driven by Yunusa Hassan, aged 27, of Babura LGA, who was coming from Kano in the direction of Babura Town, carrying a family of six (6) persons: five (5) women and two (2) males.”
SP. Shiisu said the incident occurred when the driver was trying to avoid a goat crossing the road and lost control of the vehicle where it crashed into a tree on the side of the road.
He said that the victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed the death of five (5) people.
The police spokesman said the two remaining occupants suffered fractures and are receiving treatment.
