The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with the tampering of a grave and vandalism of a transformer.
The command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the three suspects were arrested at different locations in Ibadan.
The command made these statements in a statement made available to Newslodge on Wednesday.
Ayanlade in the statement said a suspect was arrested in connection with the tampering of a grave in Ariyo area of ​​Ibadan.
He said the suspect is currently in custody at the time of filing this report on Wednesday.
He said: “The Oyo State Police Command has commenced investigation into a case of alleged serious tampering reported in Itesiwaju Ariyo area of ​​Ibadan.
“Following the report, police officers quickly visited the scene of the crime, where a suspect who had previously fled the scene was arrested. The suspect, one Hammed Oy Eleke (M), 30, was seen at the scene before the alarm was raised, after which he reportedly jumped over the fence and fled. However, thanks to police action based on intelligence information, officers of the Command subsequently arrested the suspect.”
Ayanlade, speaking about the vandalism of the transformer, noted that the police arrested two suspects.
He said the suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged vandalism of a power transformer and theft of electrical components at Akala Estate, Akobo area of ​​Ibadan.
He added that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigations are concluded.
“The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged vandalism of a power transformer and theft of electrical components at Akala Estate, Akobo area of ​​Ibadan, following swift action by operatives of the Command.
“Based on this information, the suspect, identified as Joshua Israel (M), was arrested. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime and implicated one Abang Takon (M) as his accomplice, providing a key link to a broader investigation into the criminal act. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court once the investigations are concluded.
