No less than 10 fighters of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, JAS have reportedly been killed by the rival Islamic State of West Africa province, ISWAP, in Dabar Ledda, within the Doron Naira axis of Kukawa Local Government Area, LGA of Borno State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama said in his latest report that the incident occurred on January 8.
Citing security sources, Makama said ISWAP fighters had launched a surprise assault on a JAS checkpoint, known locally as Irasa, in the Dabar Ledda area, overwhelming the position after a brief but intense clash.
Newslodge reports that both groups, which are splitters of Boko Haram, have clashed separately with the aim of degrading each other’s capabilities.
The fight, experts say, is for control of key corridors around Lake Chad and the Sambisa forest.
