The Adamawa State Police Command on Monday night confirmed that suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Gare village in Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, abducting six members of a family.
The command indicated that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.
A press statement by the command’s public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said police officers, in collaboration with sister security agencies, had launched an intensified rescue operation.
He explained that a joint operation involving the Nigerian Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force had been deployed to Gare Village and surrounding communities to carry out the rescue mission.
Nguroje added that the state police commissioner, CP Dankombo Morris, had ordered sustained search and rescue efforts as part of increased security measures in Madagali and other border communities.
The measures, he said, are aimed at ensuring the safe recovery of kidnapped victims.
Newslodge reports that Madagali is one of the local government areas most affected by Boko Haram activities.
Other affected LGAs, all located in the northern part of Adamawa State and very close to the Borno State border, include Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South and Hong.
