Dozens of Nigerians came out on Saturday to collect fuel after a tanker truck spilled its contents along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, near the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode road.

Neighbors in the area, including women, rushed to the scene with buckets, jerry cans and other containers to collect the spilled fuel.

Some of them collected the petroleum product from the drainage channels where it had accumulated, despite the risk of fire or explosion.

Meanwhile, the incident was attended by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, as well as personnel from the Fire Service, who moved to contain the situation and avoid greater dangers.

Emergency services moved in to secure the scene and manage the risks posed by the spilled fuel, particularly as residents continued to gather around the area.
