Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has revealed that he would not have married his wife, Simi, if she had an SS or AS genotype.
The singer made the revelation during a podcast, where he talked about the importance of genotype compatibility before marriage.
According to Adekunle Gold, Simi is AA adding that they did a genotype test before they got married.
“I wouldn’t have married my wife Simi if she was SS or AS. She is AA,” he said.

The singer explained that his decision was influenced by the concern of bringing into the world children who could face the challenges associated with sickle cell anemia.
“I don’t think it makes sense to bring a child into this world and put them through all that,” he added.
Adekunle Gold emphasized that the genotype tests were part of the preparations he and Simi made before they got married.
“We did a genotype test before we got married,” she said.
Genotype compatibility is commonly considered an important factor for couples planning to have children, particularly because certain combinations may increase the chance of having a child with sickle cell anemia.
Adekunle Gold and Simi have been married since 2019.
