Armed bandits launched a violent attack on Yalwa community in Masari District of Guri Local Government Area, Jigawa State, on Sunday morning, kidnapping several residents and setting parts of the community on fire, security expert Bakatsine reported on his X platform.
According to Bakatsine, security forces responded to the attack by confronting the attackers and eventually forcing them to flee the area. The incident comes amid growing security concerns in the northwest.
Bakatsine raised the alarm over a possible escalation of regional insecurity and questioned whether Jigawa is now entering a more dangerous phase of banditry.
“With Jigawa State now under pressure after previous outbreaks in Kano State, are we seeing a new dangerous phase in North West insecurity?” he questioned.
