The University Staff Union of Academic Staff, Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, (ASUU-KUST),
on Friday requested the intervention of interested parties to intervene and convince the Federal Government to fulfill its promises to end the long strike.

The union appealed to parents, students, civil society organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders to convince the federal government to deliver on its promises to address the issues at stake and accelerate the renegotiation to end the lengthy strike of university professors.

They made the call in a statement co-signed by their president, Muhammad Gaya, and secretary, Murtala Muhammad, respectively, and made it available to journalists in Kano on Friday.

According to them, “The Federal Government recently introduced the Integrated Public Payment Information System (IPPIS) which undermines university autonomy and is tremendously incompatible with the university system.

“It is important to note that the Federal Government has subjugated our members at Maiduguri University and Michael Okpara Agricultural University, Umudike in incalculable difficulties by withholding their salaries since February 2020 and members from other universities have suspended their salaries. since July 2020, ”the statement said.
