Bandit menace: Report suspicious movements to nearest station: Police inform Oyo residents

The Oyo State Police Command has advised residents of the state to, without wasting any further time, report any suspicious movement in their communities to the nearest police station.

The command made this statement in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

The statement was made available to Newslodge on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital.

Newslodge reports that some people suspected to be bandits had allegedly written notes to residents of Ikoyi-Ile in Oriire Local Government Area.

The alleged bandits indicated that they will attack on Tuesday, January 20 of this year.

Our correspondent gathered that the threat comes few days after some suspected bandits attacked and killed five rangers in the former Oyo National Park.

The park is located in Oloka town, one of the towns in Oriire local government area.

But the police, in their reaction, advised the population to always report any suspicious movement in their communities to the nearest police station.

Ayanlade, who noted that the police are aware of the notes, said people connected to the discovery of the notes are currently being questioned.

He added that the State Intelligence Department (SID) and tactical units have been ordered to begin intensive questioning of all persons related to the discovery of the notes. .

Ayanlade maintained that operational assets have been deployed and repositioned within Ikoyi-Ile and its surrounding communities.

“The State Intelligence Department (SID), in close collaboration with the tactical units, was ordered to commence intensive interrogation of all persons related to the discovery of the note, while operational assets were rapidly deployed and repositioned within Ikoyi-Ile and its surrounding communities.

“As part of deliberate and visible security actions, armed patrols, stop and search operations, intelligence surveillance and command of strategic areas have been significantly strengthened.”
