The Bayelsa state chapter of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) has extolled the Minister of the Territory of the Federal Capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for its fight against impunity and antidemocratic practices within the party.
The interim president of the party, George Turnah, in a statement from his media assistant, Kelvin Loveday-EGBO, said Wke has exemplified courage, audacity and unwavering commitment to democratic principles in 2025.
Bayelsa's chapter also praised the president, Senator Bola Tinubu; the Supreme Court; the 27 members of the House of the Assembly of the State of Rivers; the national secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and South-South Zonal President, Chief Dan Orbih, for his firmness in maintaining the party.
'' Wike's efforts mean a battle for the hearts and minds of citizens who yearn for transparent governance. His actions demonstrate a commitment to restore a sense of democratic integrity that has been challenged in recent times, '' he read.
According to him, his collective efforts to defend democratic governance, especially in the state of Rivers, in the midst of challenges raised by anti -democratic practices, are commendable.
Turnah, who described President Tinubu as a courage beacon, said his leadership has been fundamental to defend democracy in the state of Rivers.
'' His constant courage against adversity, along with his bold political will, has proven to be essential after the revelation of the Supreme Court that the state of Rivers was devoid of democratic governance.
“President Tinubu's unwavering position emphasizes the need for integrity in governance and serves as a reminder of the responsibilities involved in leadership,” he said.
He praised the Supreme Court for being Guardians of Justice, emphasizing that his decisive role in defending the integrity and independence of the Judiciary in a democratic context is refreshing.
