The state government of Benue has rescued two children from a traffic union in Makurdi, the state capital.
The incident occurred in the Makurdi area of ​​the North shore, where the attempt of human trafficking was frustrated.
The rescue operation was carried out by the main special assistant of the governor on human trafficking and child labor, Hon. Emmanuel Iorhemba anndu.
He said that the two victims, students from Tilley Gyado College, were rescued from the claws of the traffickers who intended to send them to Libya for commercial sexual works.
According to Hon anundu, the traffickers identified as Mr. Shola Oyiwale and his brother, Mr. Jide Oyiwale was hired by Mr. Shola's fiancee, who lives in Libya.
“The suspects received N100,000 to execute the law and bought children and travel kits for the victims.
“The victims, four in number, were attracted to the traffic ring, with two rescued and two still in general.”
Excmo Aundu said his office received a community notice, which led to a rapid response in collaboration with security agencies.
“The rescued victims have been delivered to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for the profile, research and rehabilitation.”
The governor of the state of Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, through a phone call, praised the Hon. Ingu's efforts and emphasized that such incidents should not be resorted to in the state.
