PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday deplored the assassination of Chief Philip Shekwo, president of the Nasarawa Congress of All Progressives, APC, and said the nation’s security system must do more to end incidents of violence in the country. .

The president welcomed the decision of the Inspector General of Police to send reinforcements of men and materials to the state.

According to a statement issued by the president’s chief special assistant for media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the late APC president was shot twice, leading to his death.

“The police investigation is expected to determine whether this was a murder or a kidnapping-murder,” he said.

In reaction to the tragic incident, President Buhari, while commiserating with the family of the deceased, said: “I strongly condemn the murder of Philip Shekwo.

“He was kind and jovial. His contribution to strengthening the party in Nasarawa state will not be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.”
