The Economic Community of Western Africa (Ecowas) states has requested a collective effort to address its current existential crisis, since the organization is at a crossroads and requires a strong capacity to overcome obstacles that hinder integration and progress.
The Vice President of the CEDEAS, Madame Damtien Tchintchibidja, in his welcome speech in the thirty and seventh ordinary meeting of the Administration and Finance Committee of the CEDEAS on Sunday in Abuja, said the importance of unity, solidarity and fraternity when overcoming the existential crisis.
She declared: “Our strength lies in unity, solidarity and fraternity. In fact, advance together on the road to development, peace and stability, is priceless.”
“We must sit together, raise and examine the problems and challenges we face without complacency and together they redouble our efforts to find appropriate solutions.”
She, therefore, said that to address the crisis, Ecowas plans to accelerate institutional, organizational, political and security reforms.
“A summit on the future of the community will be organized, where interested parties, including young people and women, will contribute to discussions about the future of the region.”
Tchintchibidja also appealed to the sense of responsibility of the members of the committee, saying that I appeal to their sense of responsibility so that together we can undertake the necessary reforms. ”
He expressed his appreciation for the leadership of the committee and commitment of the members with regional integration.
The Vice President of Ecowas also praised the successful celebration of the 50th anniversary of the organization, launched in ACCRA on April 22, 2025, and culminating in Lagos on May 28, 2025.
She thanked the Foreign Ministers of Ghana and Nigeria and the various organizing committees for their dedication and sacrifices.
Tchintchibidja reiterated the importance of collective commitment, solidarity and fraternity in the construction of a more prosperous region and with a vision of the future.

Also speaking, Professor Nazifi Abdullahi Darma, Commissioner of Internal Services of the CEDEAS, expressed his appreciation for the support of the president and the efforts of the Procurement Section.
Darma also emphasized the importance of collaboration and management of strategic resources in Ecowas institutions.
He encouraged the members of the committee to optimize the use of resources and eliminate inefficient systems and the potential impact of global developments in CEDEAS, urging the committee to think strategically about the navigation of these changes.
The president of the Administration and Finance Committee, Ambassador Olawale Emmanuel Awe, highlighted his shared commitment to the community integration agenda.
He pointed out that meeting attendance is a shared commitment to the community integration agenda.
Awe also took the opportunity to congratulate members for past achievements, encouraging them to “stop in positive aspects, guide jealousy and celebrate what CEDS has become shocking.”
AWE recognized the current problems facing the community, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions and cooperation between Member States.
He encouraged the members to think creatively and work together to address these challenges, since he expressed his gratitude to the president of the Commission, vice president and management for their efforts to promote the integration of the community, recognizing the importance of their work to advance in the community agenda.
