EPL: Scholes Doubts Joshua Zirkzee’s Goal-Scoring Ability

Must Read

Paul Scholes, who used to play for Manchester United, is worried about how well Joshua Zirkzee is doing on the team.

Scholes is concerned because Zirkzee hasn’t been scoring goals lately.

Zirkzee is from the Netherlands and joined Manchester United from an Italian team called Bologna during the summer.

When Zirkzee played his first match for Manchester United against Fulham, he scored a goal. But in the nine matches that followed, he hasn’t scored at all.

This season, Manchester United is having a hard time, too. They have only won three games out of 11 in all the different tournaments they are playing.

After watching a 0-0 match between Manchester United and Aston Villa on Sunday, Scholes shared his thoughts on TV, saying he doesn’t think Manchester United’s strikers are good enough right now.

He said, “Our forwards are not playing well. In the past, the best teams could score a lot of goals. How many have we scored? Only five goals in seven games!”

He explained, “In the past, we had several players who could score 20 goals each. That’s like getting 80 goals in a season! Manchester United doesn’t have that kind of power up front now.”

Scholes also mentioned other players: “Rasmus Hojlund is okay, but I don’t think he will score 20 goals. And Zirkzee, is he a main striker or a playmaker? I doubt he’ll get 20 goals. They are hoping more than being sure because they spent a lot of money.”
