Finally Fani-kayode bows down and says it’s time to come to terms with the reality of Biden’s presidency

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode finally accepted that Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump in the November 3 presidential election.

Fani-Kayode had insisted that Trump won the election. He has been a fervent Trump supporter in Nigeria. He has prayed and believed that the election would favor Trump, not until today when he categorically stated that “it is time to accept the reality of a Biden presidency and move on.”

In a statement released through his Facebook account, Femi said: “I clearly and categorically condemn the violence we witnessed on Capitol Hill in Washington yesterday during the Electors meeting.

“I think the elections were rigged and Trump was robbed, but violence in any shape or form does not take place in a democratic environment.

“All matters related to the American presidency must be resolved peacefully and I am glad that President Donald Trump had the presence of mind to tell the protesters to disperse and go home.

“As much as I love Donald Trump and believe he was misled in the election, I will not support any action by his supporters that disturbs the peace, endangers life and property, or leads to civil war in America.

“Those of us who love and believe in him fought a good fight and stood our ground, regardless of the odds and insults, until the end. It’s time to accept the reality of a Biden presidency and move on.

“We must not allow this issue to further divide and destroy America and, indeed, the world. This is the time to build bridges and unite.

“This is the time to emulate great men like Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, let things slide and keep the peace for the good of all.

“In 2015 he was also stolen and removed from the elections, but he refused to urge his followers to indulge in violence, granted his right to fight to the end and put the peace, security and protection of the Nigerian people first.

“This was commendable. Trump has gone as far as he can in terms of seeking redress and I commend him for that. Aside from fomenting violence and lawlessness, it can do little else.

“As a good war commander and insightful leader, you must accept the situation, however unpleasant, retreat and leave the battlefield with the remains of your army intact so that they are not completely decimated and can live to fight another day.

“I have no doubt that after a few years, as was the case with Jonathan, Trump will be vindicated but he will lose that opportunity if he refuses to accept the final decision of Congress and the Electors and grants the election.

“I pray that he makes that decision and closes this increasingly ugly and dangerous situation. I congratulate all the Trumpers in Nigeria for keeping the faith and standing firm to the end, but now is the time to sheathe our swords and accept the facts and the situation.

“President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as president on January 20, Vice President-elect Kamalla Harris will effectively lead the country into the foreseeable future, and the United States and the world will have to live with the consequences of that.”
