The authorities said the suspects were arrested while trying to throw a lot of waste on the channel using a truck.

The arrest follows a recent impulse of application of the state government of Lagos aimed at stopping the violations of the State's environmental regulations.

This incident occurs only 48 hours after the government issued a severe warning to residents and companies against illegal trash elimination.

Speaking about the arrest, the Environment and Water Resources Commissioner, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab reiterated the resolution of the state government to resort to all those who participate in the indiscriminate spill of garbage.

He said that the state government would guarantee a diligent prosecution of all arrests to serve as deterrence for all those with similar intentions.
