I gave Nigerian artists the confidence of smoking 'Igbo' on the screen – Terry G

Must Read

The controversial singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, said he was the pioneer who gave Nigerian artists the confidence to smoking cannabis, known locally as IGBO, on the screen.

In a publication shared in his mango X (previously Twitter) on Sunday, the free madness singer said that his actions raided the way for today's musicians to show that behavior publicly.

He wrote: “Without resentments, everything is love, but does not forget to say whether to be my sacrifice, none of your favorites go to look for a liver to smoke Igbo for the screen.”

Terry G, also known as Akpako's teacher, suggested that before his rise to fame, Nigerian artists lacked courage to openly consume cannabis in music videos or public appearances.

However, his statement caused mixed online reactions, with critics pointing out that the legendary pioneer of Afrobeat, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, was known to publicly smoking cannabis long before the appearance of Terry G.
