IMO: Arrest Police 147 Suspects, Recover Weapons

The IMO State Police Command has revealed that it has arrested 147 suspects criminals involved in several crimes ranging from armed robberies, kidnapping, murder, rape, children and others traffic.

The command also revealed that 7 AK-47 rifles, 3 AK-47 magazines, 7 pump action guns and 7 long weapons made locally, including 178 living cartridges and other articles, were recovered from the suspects.

According to command spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, in a press release, successful operations were the result of months of intensified efforts to improve peace and security through a series of coordinated operations throughout the state.

“In the last two months, the State Police Command has intensified its efforts to improve the peace and security of the IMO state through a series of well -coordinated operations throughout the state. These efforts, executed under the strategic leadership of the police commissioner, CP ABOKI Danjuma, have resulted in significant successes to combat crime,” he said.

Okoye added that the suspects were arrested after exhaustive investigations and intelligence operations, which also led to the recovery of various types of ammunition.

He revealed that in one of the operations, five armed robbery suspects were neutralized during fierce weapons battles with police officers, and seven kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

The spokesman also declared that there was another great advance in Umuaka, Njaba Lga, when anti-numerous agents arrested a 37-year-old man, Ozioma IHEDORO, who was said to be a native doctor and previously had been in the list of commands.

Okoye reported that the suspect admitted to being the spiritual advisor of an alleged Ipob commander known as “B44”. During a search for their sanctuary, an AK-47 rifle, three magazines and seven live rounds were recovered.

The command spokesman also declared that the Anti-Kidnapping team, in synergy with agents of the NJABA division, arrested three suspects of armed robbery more: Chinese Anayo, also known as Pablo, a 21-year-old man; Emmanuel John, 20; and Ifeanyi John, also 20 years old, all of Isiagu, Ebonyi state.

He said that the suspects were arrested during a surveillance operation and have confessed participation in multiple robberies.

A Q-Link motorcycle, two weapons of bomb action and fifteen live cartridges were also recovered.

Praiting the agents for their resilience, the state police commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, reiterated the commitment of the command, together with other security agencies, to safeguard lives and properties.

He pointed out that security measures have been strengthened throughout the State to eliminate violent kidnapping and urged residents to remain attentive and inform any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the emergency line: 0803 477 3600.
