Judge SM Shuaibu, of the Federal Superior Court, sitting in Kano, state of Kano, has condemned and sentenced 12 people for various crimes, such as cyber crimes, impersonation, retention of criminal income and money laundering.
The convicts, Michael Yakubu, Udo Promise Jona, Promise Isah Ibrahim, Samuel Odeh, Abdulsamad Muhammad, Agboze Chibueke Ernest, Ochuba Chigozie, Abu David Eleojo, David Aaron, Chidi Destiny Chidiebere, Collins Noel, and Ola Ajibola, Were Were Prosecuted By Kaduna Zonal Director of the Commission of Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, on separate positions of a count.
One of the charges says:
“That you, Michael Yakubu (also known as Beksolk_oficial), at some point in April 2025 in the state of Nasarawa, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, in a fraudulent way, one of Beksolk_Official (a citizen of the United States) on Instagram was passed for a while and in that fusion they obtained $ 300 of the victims insufficient, therefore, to a citizen offensive) (2) (2) (2) (2) (i (i (i (i (i (i (i (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (I (i (i (i (i (i (i (i (i (i (i (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) (2) punishable under section 22 (2) (b) (IV) of the Law of Cyber crimes (prohibition, prevention, etc.), 2015 ”.
Another position against Ochuba Chigozie declared that he retained $ 200 that he knew he was part of the product of the illegal activity, in violation of the money laundering law (prevention and prohibition), 2022.
All the defendants declared themselves guilty of their positions. After his plea, EFCC advises M. Lawal and Mu Gadaka urged the court to condemn them, while the defense requested clemency.
Judge Shuaibu sentenced:
Ochuba Chigozie and Abu Eleojo to five years in prison each or a fine of N500,000.
Michael Yakubu, Udo Jonah, Samuel Odeh and David Aaron received five years or a fine of N400,000.
Chidi Chidiebere received four years or a fine N400,000.
Collins Noel, Ola Ajibola and Agboze Ernest were sentenced to two years each or a fine of N400,000.
Promise Ibrahim and Abdulsamad Muhammad received three years each or a fine of N300,000.
In addition, several articles used in the commission of crimes were lost to the federal government. These include mobile phones (iPhones, Samsung, Infinix, Oppo, Redmi), an Apple laptop, an iPad and more than $ 2,700 in cash.
The convicts were arrested in the states of Nasarawa and Niger based on credible intelligence that link them with fraudulent activities online.
