It was a beautiful evening to remember for some time as Globacom spared no cost in organizing a beautiful evening of pomp and pageantry to herald this year’s edition of the annual Ofala festival in Onitsha.
Labeled “Evening with Glo”, the event, which brought together prominent Onitsha chiefs, illustrious sons and daughters of the kingdom, business partners of Glo, customers and friends of the brand, was organized in honor of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe.
Held at the CJ Paterson Hall, Enugu Road, Onitsha, the colorful event saw music celebrities, Kcee and Ikem Mazeli, on duty to treat guests to a night of entertainment.
The event was part of Globacom’s way of marketing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage on the world stage, with music being an essential element of it.
The ‘Night with Glo’ was, therefore, part of the Glo Heritage series that focuses on promoting and projecting the best of Nigerian culture and traditions to the world and the choice of the two musical acts resonated with different segments of the Onitsha community.
At the event, Globacom expressed the company’s commitment to always be at the forefront of promoting Nigerian culture and traditions to the world as a true way to attract positive attention and tourism to Nigeria at all times.
Ugosinaobichukwu Ikem Mazeli, known to many of his fans in and around Anambra as ‘Onye nwe egwu’ and ‘Material’, is hugely famous among the people of Onitsha, so he turned out to be a good choice to perform for the people at the event. Together with his band and dancers, he easily gave a good account of himself.
Kcee, who came on stage next, literally electrified the room with an outstanding performance that had many of the guests speechless throughout his performance. They danced and sang with him on many of his songs while he serenaded the room with his band.
Popular for his crowd-pleasing performance, he had a good time moving around the room while performing. Kcee took the time to interact with various segments of the audience.
The event was a worthy prologue to the Ofala festival. And many of the guests expressed their joy at being able to attend the show.
Evening With Glo has become a signature tune of Globacom by showcasing music that resonates with different segments of the Nigerian society.
It was recently celebrated at the Ojude Oba festival, which Globacom has consistently supported for two decades.
