The Kano State Government has closed a shisha lounge called Arfat located on Abdullahi Bayero Road.
The closure was a joint operation between the Kano State Tourism Board, the state National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Kano State Police Command.
Speaking on the move, Chairman of Kano State Tourism Board, Alhaji Tukur Bala Sagagi, said: “There is a law prohibiting smoking shisha in Kano State, and the government will not tolerate anyone violating it.”
He urged owners of similar places where people use drugs to “clean up their places or close them before the government takes action.”
The raid was part of the ministry’s campaign against the abuse of drugs and illegal substances such as those reportedly found in the hall.
NDLEA officers also arrested some suspects linked to the activities.
