An 80 -year -old Colombian man, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, was found dead in his hotel room at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos State.
Mr. Alfonso's life was discovered at approximately 3:45 pm on May 1 in room C85, located on the 8th floor of the hotel.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations officer of the Police of the State of Lagos, Benjamin Handeyin, said that homicide and other officers were immediately sent to the scene after a call of anguish.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased had been residing at the hotel for more than four months. No visible signs of violence or dirty game were observed in the body, according to police sources.
Since then, the body has been transferred to the morgue of the General Hospital of the continent in Yaba, where it is being preserved for autopsy. Forensic investigation has also been initiated, together with other legal procedures.
As part of the investigation, some members of the hotel management were temporarily arrested for not keeping the right guests records. They were released after being interrogated by the authorities.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that continues an exhaustive investigation to determine the exact cause of Mr. Alfonso's death.
