The National Labor Committee (NWC) led by Julius Abure of the Labor Party (LP) has announced the suspension of Governor Alex Otti of the State of Abia and five other members of the party.

The others are Senators Ireti Kingibe and Darlington Nwokocha; Honourable Victor Afam Ogene; Amobi Ogah; and Seyi Sowunmi.

He said that his suspension followed the ratification of the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee that the NWC established on May 2 to investigate the anti -party activities of the members.

“For this suspension, these former members of the party will no longer act for and on behalf of the party.

“All concerned institutions, including the forum of governors of Nigeria, the agencies of the National Assembly, INEC and Security, among others, must take note,” said the faction in a statement by the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

The NWC led by Abure expressed surprise that the NCC led by Nenadi Usman was investigating corruption, while Usman herself had pending cases with the commission of economic and financial crimes (EFCC).

He also said that Nenadi Usman, former Minister of Finance, is not known by the LP.

He also stated: “He will surprise the Nigerians and faithful of the party that the name of a USMAN Nenadí was markedly omitted from the list of suspended members of the party. First, we have repeatedly said that said Usman Nenadí was and is not a member of the Labor Party that is not a member of letters that transport party letters.

“We are aware that she is a member of the Obidient Support Group who worked and is still working for the 2023 presidential candidate of the party. Therefore, we will not honor her with any sanction that is not a member of the party.

“Once again, we are aware that Mrs. Usman recently on a well -televised occasion, in a cohort with a former governor of the state of Kaduna, joined another political party where she promised loyalty to the party. We are clearly confused where the loyalty of Usman Nenadi is located.”

The group added: “Party leadership is also surprised that Nenadi Usman is talking about corruption.

“The Nigerians are already aware of all cases of EFCC against them and we hope that Mrs. Usman will come out and explain to the Nigerians the story behind her deal with EFCC and all the properties she supposedly lost.

“Nenadi Usman lacks the moral capacity to begin any investigation or even talk about corruption.”

Previously, Abure appointed a disciplinary committee to investigate alleged antipartid activities by the Governor of the State of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti and the presidential candidate of 2023 of the party, Mr. Peter Obi.

However, the NCC of the party has also appointed a panel to investigate Abure's mandate as national president.

The NCC, led by Usman, is the Otti and Obi camp.

The NCC also gave 48 hours to stop “parading” and the president of the LP, arguing that his mandate had expired.

The NCC led by Usman went to a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday to react to what he called the “excesses of abure”, promising to stop his alleged attempt to destabilize the party before the 2027 surveys.

The former minister, who read the text of the press conference, said that he had expected that with the judgment of April 4 of the Supreme Court, which ended Abure's mandate, the president of factions should have behaved more maturely by adopting the path of reconciliation with the current NCC to rebuild the party.

She expressed surprise that, instead of associating with the party for strategies such as a family, Abure had chosen to continue parading as president, while discrediting the leaders of the party as Otti and Obi.

Usman declared: “After a careful and comprehensive review of the Supreme Court Judgment issued on Friday, April 4, 2025, the National Executive Council (NEC) is deeply concerned about the subsequent actions of the Barr. Julius Abure, particularly its continuous personification of the estimated office of the National Labor Party.

“These actions have not only violated the spirit and letter of the law, but have also put in description the image and integrity of our great party.

“In the exercise of its constitutional mandate and in strict compliance with the disciplinary provisions of the Constitution of the 2019 Labor Party (according to amended), the NEC, in session, announces the beginning of the disciplinary actions against the MR Abure. These actions have begun with the constitution of a special research committee to review the actions of Mr. Abure as affect the image and integrity of the party.

“In line with due process and the constitution of the party, NEC gives it a 48 -hour notice to show why there would be no disciplinary measures against him for his numerous acts of misconduct against the party.

“The formal notice of disciplinary actions will be sent to the last known direction of Barr. Julius Abure.

“Mr. Abure is warned to give up parading as the national president of the Labor Party or impersonate the office.

“His continuous acts of the Supreme Court on April 4, 2025 issued a final and binding sentence. He continued the appeal of the Senadi Nenadi Usman caregivers.

“He dismissed Abure's cross appeal; he left aside the decisions of the lower courts that recognize Abure; warned that party leaders should humbly vacate the position at the end of their mandate.”

Disienting even more abure, the NCC led by Usman approved a vote of confidence both in Otti and Obi.
