The Zamfara state government began the campaign in the chemoprevention of the seasonal malaria of 2025 (SMC), saying that more than 1 million doses of SMC medications will be distributed to children from 3 months to 59 months through a door -to -door approach in the state.
This was revealed Monday by the health commissioner of Zamfara, Dr. Nafisa Mohammed Maradun, represented by the Director of Public Health Services, Dr. Yusuf Abubakar Haske, during a participation of the media held in the Ministry of Health in the State.
“In its efforts to eliminate malaria, the Zamfara State Government in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) and the administration of the Global Health Supply Chain and the management of supply supplies (GHSC-PSM) with the financial support of the financing campaign of the president of the United States 2025 (SMC) in the state “.
“More than 1 million doses of SMC medications will be distributed to children from 3 months to 59 months in Zamfara through a door -to -door approach.
“The objective of the SMC campaign is to ensure that all eligible children from 3 to 59 months receive malaria prevention medications in the maximum malaria season to protect them from malaria.” Mentioned.
He revealed that to guarantee malaria prevention, SMC is administered every month for more than 4 months during the rainy season when malaria transmission is higher.
According to him, the first cycle of the campaign will begin from July 3 to 7, 2025, community drug distributors will visit homes to broadcast SMC medications to eligible children.
“We advise that homes should make sure they leave someone at home within this period to receive SMC medicine for eligible children.” He advised.
In addition, he informed that homes should encourage SMC distributors and serve them quickly so they can visit as many homes as possible in the community with a period stipulated in the state.
In addition, the State President of Defense, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) Bashir Garba revealed that all arrangements for the success of the program were made.
“Appropriate agreements have been made to ensure that no eligible child is left, interested parties, community leaders were mobilized to guarantee the success of the program in the State.”
In the media information session, it was met that the prevalence of malaria cases has been reduced with the efforts of the state government and the development partners working in the state.
